Building up everyday life skills is important for Jim to improve his confidence and independence.

Jim was extremely happy with the amount and quality of food from a recent visit to the Social Supermarket in Onekawa. He is looking forward to his next appointment there. It enabled Jim to do home baking which he enjoys whilst learning different ways to budget better and make healthy choices.

Paula receives rewards for her attendance to numeracy and literacy sessions, such as gym sessions or ten-pin bowling, which contribute to her mental wellbeing and physical development.

Amber represented The Voice of a Person with a Disability Group at the Hastings Disability Reference Group April meeting.

Amber confidently engaged in thought-provoking discussions with the committee members providing feedback on current disability issues and the long-term effects.

The Voice of a Person with Disability Group provides Amber the opportunity to advocate on behalf of all people with disabilities on real life situations that affect them on a daily basis within our community.

Flynn is committed to attending Complex Forme gym where he focuses on learning an array of skills and techniques to increase his physical fitness and overall well-being.

With support and guidance Flynn attentively listens to his personal trainer’s instructions and recommendations.

By consistently visiting the gym, Flynn boosts his stamina and endurance levels. Additionally, Flynn deepens his friendships with his peers and improves his communication skills.

Ryan is working toward increasing his independence currently focusing on maximising room space for his overall wellbeing.

Ryan is an avid collector of dice, business cards, wooden off cuts, which all requires storage. He likes to research the appropriate storage required for each collection. Using his budgeting skills, he is very mindful of the cost ensuring it is affordable.

Ryan takes his time to consider the options before purchasing the items.

Carson has been attending Hastings Menzshed learning a range of skills and techniques to complete a project.

By keenly watching and interacting with others, Carson is gaining a good understanding of the importance of reading, following instructions and how to use tools correctly for his creations.

Carson has enjoyed the process and is very proud to explain the steps needed to complete his 3 wooden toys.
