Monsters – here, there, and everywhere

Jill from Woven Earth Arts provided the opportunity for the service users to create their own interpretation of a clay monster.

Blair, Rachel, Emma and Kylie had a lot fun and laughter when it came to painting the monsters while expressing their own unique colours and designs.

The pleasure of seeing the enthusiasm and excited atmosphere was memorable.

Emily attends the Hastings Baking club at the Hastings District Council once a month.

Emily relished the challenge to choose a recipe and bake it within the “Flower” theme.

The completed Choc-topped Crunchy slice decorated with flowers and coloured balls was taken along to the club to share.

Emily enjoyed talking to the other members about the recipe, ingredients and how she made it.

It is empowering to see your confidence and independence growing Emily.

Emily, Hayden and Carson have been learning what is required when planning a trip.

A recent visit to Velocity trampolines involved them researching and making group decisions about opening days, hours, prices, and transport to and from the activity.

They all enjoyed their time at Velocity trampolines and are currently researching and planning for their next community trip.

We look forward to seeing where the next planned trip will be!

Samuel’s days are packed with a variety of activities to increase his everyday skills and overall wellbeing.

Samuel can now catch the bus independently which has opened a world of endless possibilities and connections.

His volunteering work at the SPCA and SPCA Op shop provides the perfect opportunity to gain functional experience while connecting with dogs and cats.

Regular gym sessions are a great way to improve his physical fitness and catch up with his peers.

It is great to see you embracing life Samuel!

Scavenger hunts are fun!

Everyone enjoys the excitement a scavenger hunt gives especially when each of the tasks has been completed.

Cornwall Park provided the perfect place where the service users had to locate well known statues, aviaries and monuments.

Richard, Leanne, William, Blair and Rachel learnt about the background of Cornwall park and developed a sense of bonding with each other through shared experiences.

For 3 days at the beginning of August the Māori language moved out of the marae, the classroom and the conference room and on to the downtown streets of Hastings at the world-first “Toitū te Reo-Māori Language Forever” Street Festival.

Paula, Sam and William took the opportunity to visit the Festival and engage with food stalls, clothes stalls and participants fluently conversing in our country’s other language
